9.34pm A win by two wickets, with four balls remaining. This has undoubtedly been the match of the tournament. UAE were hamstrung (quite literally) by the injury to Guruge, but Ireland's middle and lower order had the experience and brought all of it to the fore in chasing down this tricky total. The UAE attack bowled brilliantly, but the efforts of Wilson and O'Brien took Ireland over the line in the end, just about. Ten teams at the next World Cup? No scope for a match like this.

49.2
Mohammad Naveed to Dockrell, 2 runs, short ball, angling into the body, and Ireland have won it! He went for the uppercut, miscued it, but who cares? Cover turned around and hared back desperately to try and catch it, but that was always falling a long way away from him
49.1
Mohammad Naveed to Cusack, 1 run, backs away and slaps the full ball to mid-off. Goes for the single, and the throw from mid-off misses at the bowler's end. He was nowhere in the picture!

Mohammad Naveed to defend three runs off the final over. Alex Cusack on strike.

End of over 49 (7 runs) Ireland 276/8 (3 runs required from 6 balls, RR: 5.63, RRR: 3.00)
    • GH Dockrell 5 (4b 1x4 0x6)
    • AR Cusack 4 (5b 0x4 0x6)
    • Amjad Javed 10-0-60-3
    • Mohammad Naveed 9-1-62-2
48.6
Amjad Javed to Dockrell, no run, backs away and looks to work it away through the leg side and it moves in a touch and hits him on the front pad

Down to three runs now, from seven balls. Ireland's to lose

48.5

Amjad Javed to Dockrell, FOUR, slower ball, and Dockrell has smashed that over extra cover. Wasn't a bad ball in theory, but he'd moved away from the line and was in the perfect position to swing his arms through that lofted drive
48.4
Amjad Javed to Cusack, 1 run, slower ball, full, outside off, smacked back down the ground and it ricochets into the cover region off the bowler's palm
48.3
Amjad Javed to Cusack, 2 runs, low full-toss outside off, and he swings at it and swipes it away through square leg. Tauqir kicks it away while sliding to field it, and ends up conceding a second
48.2
Amjad Javed to Cusack, no run, length ball outside off, straightens a touch after pitching. Cusack swings at it with no footwork and is nowhere near connecting

I'm losing track of who's on strike.

48.1
Amjad Javed to Cusack, no run, and he produces the perfect yorker first ball. Base of middle stump, and he jabs it down the ground but can only hit the stumps at the other end. Bowler dived and nearly got a fingertip on it. Not sure if the non-striker was in his crease

10 off 12. Amjad Javed to bowl.
Avi: "Ball becomes dead only if upmire gives out, which was the case in Aus vs Eng match" You're probably right, Avi. I'm too flustered to think at the moment :)

End of over 48 (10 runs) Ireland 269/8 (10 runs required from 12 balls, RR: 5.60, RRR: 5.00)
    • AR Cusack 1 (1b 0x4 0x6)
    • GH Dockrell 1 (2b 0x4 0x6)
    • Mohammad Naveed 9-1-62-2
    • Amjad Javed 9-0-53-3
47.6
Mohammad Naveed to Cusack, 1 run, full now, angling into middle and leg. He pokes it towards short midwicket and they set off for the single. The fielder underarms it at the bowler;s end and misses, and that, I think, would have been out had he hit with a clean throw. He ended up flicking it out of his fingertips
47.5
Mohammad Naveed to Dockrell, 1 run, was that another drop? Not too much room for the cut and he sliced it to the left of backward point. Rohan Mustafa dived and, yup, it bounced a good six inches short of him
47.4
Mohammad Naveed to Dockrell, no run, back of a length, angling in, tucking him up for room. Looks to dab it past short third man, hits it straight to him

George Dockrell. He can bat, but this is immense pressure.

47.3
Mohammad Naveed to Wilson, OUT, and UAE are back in it! that's a short ball angling into his body, and he leans away to guide it past short third man, but he ends up hitting it too close to him, and Javed dives forward and takes a super low catch
GC Wilson c Amjad Javed b Mohammad Naveed 80 (69b 9x4 0x6) SR: 115.94
47.2
Mohammad Naveed to Wilson, FOUR, another one wide outside off, this one's a slower ball, and he hits that so hard it nearly decapitates the umpire, who falls to his right, out of the way, just in time. It went well over his head, on replay, but he still got into the crouching seagull position to get out of the way
47.1
Mohammad Naveed to Wilson, FOUR, bad ball with mid-off in the circle. It's full and wide, and that's plenty of swinging room for Wilson to hit up and over that fielder

Also, I'm not sure Ireland should have got the leg-bye on that reviewed lbw. Ball should have become dead at the point of the appeal, no?

End of over 47 (3 runs) Ireland 259/7 (20 runs required from 18 balls, RR: 5.51, RRR: 6.66)
    • GC Wilson 72 (66b 7x4 0x6)
    • Amjad Javed 9-0-53-3
    • Mohammad Naveed 8-1-52-1
46.6
Amjad Javed to Mooney, OUT, another twist. Mooney looks to lap-sweep a full ball on off stump, ends up hitting it awkwardly over his own shoulder, and Amjad Ali, backtracking from short fine leg, takes a well-judged catch
JF Mooney c Amjad Ali b Amjad Javed 2 (6b 0x4 0x6) SR: 33.33
46.5
Amjad Javed to Wilson, 1 leg bye, plants his front foot across to lap-sweep, and Amjad hits him on the pad with a full one. Bit appeal as it rolls away towards short fine leg, not given. They've decided to review, but I think that struck him outside the line... wait, no! That hit him not on the pad but on the thigh, and that may well have been in line with off stump. In line with off and middle, aaaaand... wait for it... clipping the bails! Umpire's call again! Not the first time this is happening at this World Cup. So much drama!
46.4
Amjad Javed to Wilson, no run, back of a length outside off, and Wilson, coming down the track and making room, slashes and misses. The crowd goes 'ohhhhhh'.

Less than 6000 people at the ground but they're making a hell of a noise, clapping in rhythm to the bowler's run-up. This is brilliant stuff.

46.3
Amjad Javed to Mooney, 1 run, full on leg stump, clipped away to long leg
46.2
Amjad Javed to Mooney, no run, and he's beaten him three balls out of three. Length ball outside off, and it straightens just a touch. Mooney goes for the big hit over mid-off and is nowhere near connecting

around the wicket to Mooney

46.1
Amjad Javed to Wilson, 1 run, slower ball on a length outside off, slapped towards cover point

David Clark: "I'm sitting here in Perth, Australia, with no TV access to the game because I refuse to get Foxtel. I won't serve up tea, because I am hooked on your text about this game. Well done both teams, and really well done cricinfo and whoever is prodding text."

End of over 46 (13 runs) Ireland 256/6 (23 runs required from 24 balls, RR: 5.56, RRR: 5.75)
    • GC Wilson 71 (63b 7x4 0x6)
    • JF Mooney 1 (3b 0x4 0x6)
    • Mohammad Naveed 8-1-52-1
    • Amjad Javed 8-0-51-2
45.6
Mohammad Naveed to Wilson, 1 run, full on middle and leg, clipped away to the left of deep midwicket
45.5
Mohammad Naveed to Wilson, FOUR, down the track, makes room, lifts this middle-stump ball up and over the covers. Lovely shot
45.4
Mohammad Naveed to Mooney, 1 run, on the pads, tucked away towards long leg

Swarup Dey: "UAE Captain forgot Guruge. See his bowling economy and he is still persisting with horrible bowlers. god plz help him. i think justifying his age." Guruge is off the field with cramps, Swarup.

45.3
Mohammad Naveed to Wilson, 1 run, length ball, angling in towards off stump, hangs back and dabs it into the covers
45.2
Mohammad Naveed to Wilson, 2 runs, short on off stump, slapped away to the left of sweeper cover
45.1
Mohammad Naveed to Wilson, FOUR, shot! That's back of a length, angling in towards middle stump. The angle makes the keeper move to his left, and Wilson made room and steered it away not far to the right of the space he had just vacated

36 from 30 balls, one set batsman and one new batsman at the crease. Naveed returns to the attack.

End of over 45 (12 runs) Ireland 243/6 (36 runs required from 30 balls, RR: 5.40, RRR: 7.20)
    • JF Mooney 0 (2b 0x4 0x6)
    • GC Wilson 59 (58b 5x4 0x6)
    • Amjad Javed 8-0-51-2
    • Rohan Mustafa 9-0-45-0
44.6
Amjad Javed to Mooney, no run, wide of the crease, anging in, and it straightens from a length to beat Mooney's prod outside off stump
44.5
Amjad Javed to Mooney, no run, Full outside off, and Mooney's feet don't move too much as he plays and misses

John Mooney. Left-handed bat, played a crucial role in that chase against England in 2011. Seven fielders in the circle as Javed goes around the wicket.

44.4
Amjad Javed to KJ O'Brien, OUT, gone! Another slower ball, and he was moving away from the line, looking to hit over extra cover. Doesn't connect half as well as he'd have liked to, and he scoops it straight into the fielder's hands
KJ O'Brien c Mohammad Naveed b Amjad Javed 50 (25b 8x4 2x6) SR: 200.00
44.3
Amjad Javed to KJ O'Brien, SIX, whoa. That was full on off stump, ordinarily too full to get that sort of elevation, but he goes deep in his crease and whips his wrists through the ball, so much bottom-hand, and it's up and over long-off. Half-century up for him as well, off 24 balls!
